BASF is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Vector Classic insect light traps manufactured from September 2012 to August 2014. BASF is recalling these products because of a problem with the bulb holders in some units that can cause electrical arcing, which may damage the bulb holders over time and pose risk of fire. The unit may appear to function properly while the arcing is occurring. BASF has received several reports of Vector Classic units with melted or charred bulb holders but no reports of injuries.
Please Note: This recall does not apply to the Vector Plasma® line of products. It affects only Vector Classic units with serial numbers that fall within the following ranges:
Please check the serial number by locating the serial code sticker affixed on the outside of the unit box as shown in Figure 1 or in the catch tray of the product as shown in Figure 2.
Discontinue Use and Remove Recalled Units
BASF asks all current users of Vector Classic units to immediately unplug the unit, and if it is affected by the recall, to stop using the unit until a replacement is obtained.
To dispose of the affected Vector Classic insect light trap, unplug the unit, remove the bulbs, cut the electrical cord and discard appropriately.
BASF will provide a replacement units to you so that you may remove recalled units from end user’s facility and install replacement units.
